My Father, my hero!

Say bye, bye to May and hello to June!

Soon it will be Father's Day. Remember the date it's June 21 (Sunday).
I'm quite sad, I was not able to write something about my mother on Mother's day. That was the time when I was having some emotional battle inside me and I feel so sorry about that. Anyways....I'll make it up with my mother on her birthday!

Here comes another season of the year. In Philippines, we only have Sunny and Rainy Seasons. Rain starts to pour down and everybody needs to get their umbrellas, boots and raincoats again! It's June, a rainy month but a special month because it is also the birth month of Dr. Jose Rizal, Philippine's National Hero and my father too, he's a hero in my life as well.

At 77, he is losing weight, hair turned so gray and skin becomes wrinkled and full of freckles and age spots grow all over him. He does some walking early in the morning to exercise his aching muscles. There is one thing my father loves to do...it's talking...talking...talking! Most of the time he experience a memory gap...funny...poor father but he still loves to talk!

Most of my father's friends, co-workers and classmates at his age had gone away. He is the only one left behind. Aside from strolling and talking my father is fond of playing Solitaire when he feels bored.

He always recalled things in the past and compare them to present life particularly when he heard over the news so many things about graft and corruption. My father did one BIG thing in his life when he was still in his late 20's. Can anyone imagine returning millions of pesos to somebody who doesn't even know that such money exists?
It happened when his employer died. My father was asked by his boss to give the money to his wife when he is gone.

The story goes this way. My father's employer left a bagful of money bills in the car's compartment whose wife has no idea at all. His Boss died and left that money to my father's custody. Without second thought, he took the bag and gave it to the wife of his deceased boss. My father was so HONEST that he obediently did the request of his late boss. One suitcase full of Peso Bills worth millions was given to Mrs. Fe F. without a single bill taken!!!

If you' re in my father's shoes, would you do the same?

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! I LOVE YOU TATAY!
